MLB
The Tigers and Pirates split their doubleheader yesterday, with Detroit taking the opener 9-2, and Pittsburgh winning the nightcap 8-4 in 10 innings. Both games were delayed by rain.
In game one, Tarik Skubal pitched into the sixth, allowed two runs, and earned his eighth win of the season. Zach McKinstry homered, Riley Greene drove in four runs, and Gleyber Torres had three hits.
In game two, opener Tyler Holton gave up three runs on a pair of homers in the second inning. Keider Montero took over, and allowed a solo shot in the third. The Tigers caught up with a two-run Gleyber Torres double in the fifth, and a two-run Colt Keith homer in the seventh. Pittsburgh put the game away with four runs off Brant Hurter in the top of the 10th.
After a long day yesterday, the Tigers fly to Florida to take on the Rays tonight. Jack Flaherty will start against Shane Baz. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
Detroit has released struggling reliever John Brebbia. Brebbia had been designated for assignment on Sunday. No team claimed him off waivers, and the Tigers decided not to send him to Toledo. Dylan Smith has been called back up from the Mud Hens.
The Brewers built an early lead, then held off the Cubs 8-7 yesterday. Rhys Hoskins, Chad Durbin and Isaac Collins homered for the Crew. Freddy Peralta gave up three runs over five innings, and claimed his seventh win of the season.
The Brewers begin a series in Minnesota tonight. Jacob Misiorowski will pitch against Joe Ryan.
NBA
The Pacers outscored the Thunder 108-91 last night, and tied the NBA Championship Series 3-3. The title will be decided Sunday evening in Oklahoma City.
High School
The U.P. All-Star football game will be played tomorrow at 1 at the Superior Dome.
