The National Park Service vessel Peregrine is safely docked in Houghton, after having run aground on the north break wall at the Keweenaw Upper Entrance.
NPS officials said the mishap occurred around 12:30 Saturday morning, as the 25-foot Peregrine was transporting a visitor with a medical emergency from the island to the mainland.
A response boat from U.S. Coast Guard Station Portage delivered two passengers to Lily Pond Boat Launch, where they were met by an EMS team. The response boat then returned to the Peregrine, and brought the remaining four NPS Rangers to shore.
The Peregrine was towed to Houghton Saturday afternoon, and park officials report there was no fuel or oil discharge.
There is no further information about the park visitor with the medical emergency who was being transported.
