A worn-out truck that was used to help maintain snowmobile and ATV trails gave its life to help protect residents of southeastern Ontonagon County last week.
MI-TRALE, which oversees trails in Ontonagon and Gogebic Counties, donated the vehicle to the Bruce Crossing Fire Department after determining that it could no longer be maintained.
The fire department used it last week for Jaws of Life training, refining techniques that can be used to extract victims trapped in wrecked vehicles.
The session took place at Al’s Auto in Bruce Crossing, which will part out and recycle what’s left of the truck.
