Bridgefest week is underway in Houghton and Hancock.
While activities don’t begin until Friday, there are some events that require advance sign-up.
The most urgent is the parade Friday night. On yesterday’s Copper Country Today program, Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce manager Katie Schlief said tomorrow is the final day to sign up – if there’s room for you…
Audio PlayerWe’re actually pretty close as far as entries. We’re at a set number from the cities to get across the bridge, and we are filling up fast.
The length of the parade is limited by the Michigan Department of Transportation, because it takes place on a US highway.
Online sign-up for Friday’s Thatcher Markham Memorial run also ends tomorrow night, but there will be late registration sessions Thursday evening and Friday afternoon.
The weekend will also include a pickleball tournament, a doubles tennis tournament, a cribbage tournament, and a cornhole tournament to raise money for the Houghton High School hockey team. Advance registration is needed for all of those. Find details at Bridgefestfun.com.
