The Lake Linden-Hubbell softball team will face Superior Central in a regional semifinal this morning at 11:00 at Ishpeming. Coverage will begin at 10:45 on KBear 102.3. Norway will play Gogebic in the second semifinal at 1. The championship game will be played at 3, and we’ll broadcast it if the Lakes advance.

Tarik Skubal turned in another strong start, as the Tigers shut down the Cubs 3-1 last night. Skubal pitched into the eighth inning, scattering eight hits, and allowing just one run. Spencer Torkelson homered, and Jahmai Jones, who had been called up from Toledo earlier in the day, knocked one out in his first Tigers at-bat.
Detroit continues that home set against the Cubs this afternoon. Tyler Holton will open against Jameson Taillon. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Jones was brought up because the Tigers sent the struggling Andy Ibáñez down to the Mud Hens. To make room for Jones on the 40-man roster, outfielder Akil Baddoo was designated for assignment.
The Brewers collected just four hits, and lost 2-0 to the Padres last evening. Chad Patrick suffered the tough-luck loss, giving up a run on four hits over six innings.
The Brewers host the Padres again tonight. Jose Quintana will pitch against Stephen Kolek.
Reliever Tyler Alexander is no longer with the Brewers organization. He cleared waivers after being designated for assignment, and elected to become a free agent.
NHL
The Panthers shaded the Oilers double overtime to win game two of the Stanley Cup Championship Series last night. Brad Marchand netted the game-winner. The series is tied 1-1, with game three scheduled for Florida on Monday.
NBA
Game two of the NBA Championship Series will be played tomorrow in Oklahoma City. The Pacers lead the Thunder 1-0.
