State resources are on the way to help Baraga County recover from the May 15th storm that dropped more than four inches of rain in some areas.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer this week included Baraga County in a disaster declaration. The City of Lansing and Allegan County downstate were also included, after they were struck by numerous tornadoes spawned by that same storm system.
The declaration clears the way for potential recovery assistance from state agencies, and financial support to help cover the cost.
The deluge caused flooding in downtown L’Anse and at Meadowbrook Park, but relatively little damage occurred because of that.
Most of the damage involved road and bridge washouts, with some roads still closed.
