MLB
Tim Elko’s single off Beau Brieske in the bottom of the 10th inning drove home the winning run, as the White Sox shaded the Tigers 3-2 yesterday. Wenceel Pérez homered for Detroit.
Detroit opens a home set against the Cubs tonight. Tarik Skubal will start against Ben Brown. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Colt Keith at third base? Yesterday, Tigers manager AJ Hinch said that could happen as soon as tonight. Detroit had kept Keith away from the hot corner for several years, following a shoulder injury he suffered in the minor leagues, but Hinch says he’s been working out there. Keith was slotted in at first base when the season opened, but Spencer Torkelson’s comeback has created a logjam on the right side of the infield. The Tigers have rotated several players at third, but offense has been disappointing.
The Brewers had yesterday off, and host the Padres tonight. Chad Patrick will pitch against Randy Vásquez.
Brandon Woodruff’s long-awaited return to the Milwaukee rotation will be delayed another couple of weeks. Team officials confirmed yesterday that the line drive that hit him on the elbow during a rehab start at Nashville caused no structural damage, but it will take some time to recover from the resulting contusion. Woodruff has been out since late 2023 following major shoulder surgery.

The Oilers host the Panthers in game two of the Stanley Cup Championship Series tonight. Edmonton won the opening game Wednesday.

It was the only lead Indiana had in the contest, as they overcame a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit. Game two will be played Sunday in Oklahoma City.
