Today Houghton’s community toured the CCISD CTE construction technology program’s latest build. The home sits on Red Oak Lane, on a hill, overlooking the city. Students worked closely with local contractors over the school year to complete the project. Real estate agent Clea Ollanketo says it was great to see students leading the community through the open house event and to see the house finished.
The students are doing a great job giving professional tours of the home. Walking people through and describing everything they put into it as well. They finished about a year ahead of schedule. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a complete sauna. With a wash area. There’s a vaulted living space and a large kitchen-dining area. With stainless steel appliances, GE washer and dryer as well. – Clea Ollanketo, Real estate agent, Century 21 of Houghton
Ollanketo adds a home including 1600 square feet in the area can sell for more than 500,000 dollars. When 1026 Red Oak Lane has sold, the CTE program will reinvest the funds into two more house builds. Recently the city of Hancock approved donating a lot in the Slyvan estates to the program, in anticipation of students building a second home in the community. Another project expected to start next school year will build a home in L’anse.
