
Bay College plans to relaunch its Practical Nursing program in Michigan.
Bay College has worked with Michigan regulatory agencies to resume its Practical Nursing program at campuses in Iron Mountain and Escanaba. The college has submitted its comprehensive program plan to the Bureau of Professional Licensing with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
President of Bay College Mr. Neritha Hughes says the educational institution is committed to partnering with state officials to relaunch the practical nursing program and solve challenges in communities in need of qualified nurses. Dean of Nursing and Allied Health programs at Bay College Dr. Patrick Reinhard says educators are prepared and excited to produce highly qualified graduates. Bay College expects state regulators to tour the campuses in September. With a possible vote to follow and reinstate the college’s program in November with the Michigan Board of Nursing.
In the past five years, more than 250 students have completed practical nursing requirements and currently work in the Upper Peninsula. More than 700 students have graduated from the Bay College practical nursing program in the past 10 years, and work in Michigan.
