In high school baseball yesterday…
- Houghton swept Calumet 10-2 and 16-9. Rylan Issacson got the win in game one. Eli Heathman earned the win in game two.
- L’Anse took two from Lake Linden-Hubbell, 10-5 and 15-3.
- Jeffers took two from Ontonagon, 10-0 and 6-1.

In softball…
- Calumet fell to Negaunee 11-1 and 11-4. Jaysa Wilks had a triple for the Copper Kings in the opener, and Chloe Coppo had two hits in the nightcap.
- Houghton and Hancock split their doubleheader. The Gremlins scored five runs in the seventh inning to earn a 7-6 comeback win in the opener. Estella Soumis had a three-run homer and Reagan Moyle had a two-run double. Soumis took the win in the circle. In game two, Hancock scored 10 runs in the bottom of the second inning, and held on for an 11-8 victory.
- Lake Linden-Hubbell cruised past L’Anse 9-0 and 12-1. In the opener, Emily Jokela struck out 18 Purple Hornets, allowed just one hit, and legged out an inside-the-park home run. Payton Goldsworthy had a pair of doubles, and Cleo Milkey had two hits. Goldsworthy struck out 13 in the nightcap. Alli Corrigan had three hits, and Jokela and Ashlyn Steve each had two. Sylvia Allen had a triple and a single for the Hornets.
- Jeffers swept Ontonagon 13-7 and 19-6. In game one, Meg Ruohonen tripled as part of a six-run third inning for the Jets. She also doubled and reached base five times in the game. Janet Mattila had two hits and drove in three runs. In game two, Naomi Frahm collected three hits including a triple. Mattila struck out five in five innings of work.
- Forest Park took two from Bark River-Harris, 20-4 and 20-10. Jessica Loehr had three hits including a double in the opener, and drove in four runs. She added three more hits and three RBI in the nightcap. Tessa Bartoszek had four hits and drove in four runs in the second game.
In girls soccer…
- Houghton fell to Marquette 4-1. Aila Weeks scored the Gremlins’ goal.
In golf…
- Houghton, Calumet, Hancock and West Iron County at the Negaunee Kiwanis Invitational – no report.

The Tigers and Rockies were rained out last night. They’ll make that up as part of a straight doubleheader today. Jackson Jobe will face Chase Dollander in the opener. Casey Mize will start against Kyle Freeland in the nightcap. Coverage will begin at 2:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Mickey York will no longer be a part of Tigers television broadcasts. York posted on social media yesterday that his position with what’s now called the Fan Duel Sports Network has been eliminated, after 25 years.
The Brewers scored four runs in the first inning, and held off the Astros 4-3 last night. Rhys Hoskins hit a two-run double, and scored on a Jake Bauers home run. Chad Patrick pitched six shoutout innings, and left as Houston scored three runs in the seventh.
The Brewers conclude that home series against the Astros this afternoon. Quinn Priester will start against Framber Valdez.
Brandon Woodruff pitched five strong innings in a rehab start at Nashville last evening. He could make one more rehab start, or could be brought up to Milwaukee, after more than a year recovering from major shoulder surgery.

In NBA Conference Semifinal play last night…
- In the Eastern Conference, the Pacers overcame a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to edge the Cavaliers 120-119. Tyrese Haliburton’s three pointer with one second remaining secured the win. Indiana leads that series 2-0.
- In the Western Conference, the Warriors shut down the Timberwolves 99-88. Golden State opens a 1-0 lead in that series.

- In the Eastern Conference, the Celtics host the Knicks. New York is up 1-0 in that series.
- In the Western Conference, the Nuggets visit the Thunder. Denver leads that set 1-0.

In NHL Conference Semifinal play last evening…
- In the Eastern Conference, the Hurricanes shaded the Capitals 2-1 in overtime. Jaccob Slavin netted the game-winner. Carolina opens a 1-0 lead in that series.
- In the Western Conference, the Oilers doubled up the Golden Knights 4-2. Edmonton leads that series 1-0.
