High School
Almost all of yesterday’s high school baseball and softball games were rained out.
Hancock was able to play its softball doubleheader at Kingsford. The Bulldogs swept the Flivvers, 5-4 and 6-1. In the opener, Sadie Biekkola pitched an eight-inning complete game with six strikeouts to get the win. She also had three hits. Sofie Freeman and Romey Koskela each had two hits for the Bulldogs. Lucy Biekkola got the win in the circle and had three hits in the second game. Sadie Biekkola, Kaelyn Rouleau, Brooke Koskela, and Romey Koskela each had two hits.

At the Eskymoes Invitational track meet yesterday…
- The Houghton boys finished second to Sault Ste Marie. West Iron County was 12th. For the Gremlins, Luke Hill won the 800 and 1600-meter runs. The 4×100 and 4×800 relay teams took first place. Michael Solena won the shot put.
- The Houghton girls placed third, behind Gladstone and Sault Ste Marie. West Iron County was 10th. Emilyn Fay of the Gremlins won the pole vault.

MLB
The Tigers broke open a tie game with eight runs in the ninth inning, and routed the Angels 9-1 last night. Riley Greene became the first major leaguer ever to hit two home runs in the ninth inning. He’s just the third Tiger to do it in any inning, joining Al Kaline and Magglio Ordóñez in the record book. Colt Keith and Javier Báez also homered in the ninth. Trey Sweeney had tied the game with a solo shot in the seventh. Tarik Skubal served up a solo home run on his first pitch of the night, then tossed shutout ball through the sixth to get the win.
The Tigers continue that series in Anaheim tonight. Jack Flaherty will pitch against Kyle Hendricks. Coverage will begin at 9:10 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers’ power outage continued in a 10-0 loss to the Cubs last evening. Tyler Alexander opened for Milwaukee, but couldn’t make it through the first inning, as Chicago scored three. Quinn Priester stepped in, and struggled as the Cubs added seven runs in the second inning. In their last two games, the Brewers have collected a total of seven hits, and no runs.
The Brewers host the Cubs again tonight. Jose Quintana will start against Jameson Taillon.
NBA
In NBA Western Conference quarterfinals last night…
- The Rockets got past the Warriors 115-107. That series is tied 3-3, and will be decided tomorrow.
In the Western Conference tonight…
- The Nuggets host the Clippers. That series is tied 3-3.
NHL
In NHL Western Conference quarterfinal play last evening…
- The Blues dumped the Jets 5-2. That series is tied 3-3, and will be decided tomorrow.
In the Western Conference tonight…
- The Stars host the Avalanche. That set is tied 3-3.
