Feeding America makes a stop in Chassell next week. The national non-profit’s western Michigan distribution center partners with the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chassell on Wednesday to set up a drive-thru mobile food pantry.
Holy Trininty’s Preacher Soren Schmidt says anyone interested in volunteering during the event should contact the church. Volunteers at mobile food pantry load into vehicles of people in need. The mobile food pantry supplies a variety of items including fresh produce, dairy, meat, easy-to-make meals, and some personal care products such as laundry detergent.
Holy Trinity does ask anyone in need of support to bring a box or basket for volunteers to load. People in need of feeding America’s support should arrive at the site to register at 945 am on the 30th.
Volunteers are asked to arrive before the pantry starts at 10 am. Schmidt asks volunteers to plan on volunteering about three hours to the community.
The Feeding America mobile food pantry is not the only one taking place in the region next week either. On the 30th there are three mobile food pantries organized in the western Upper Peninsula. Then on Thursday, a semi-truck arrives in the communities of Dickinson, Marquette, and Osceola counties.
