It’s time for the Copper Country to exit hibernation and get moving. On Saturday UPHS Portage helps people get outside early in the spring with the annual Sisu Shuffle. Event coordinator Angela Luskin says everyone knows there are physical benefits of staying active, but events such as the shuffle also bring the people together.
Trying to make communities healthier is a part of our mission here at UP Health Systems Portage. So, the Sisu Shuffle is another great way to do that. But the benefits of physical movement are enormous. But it’s not just the physical benefits, there’s also that boost in mood. It helps us sleep. We just feel better overall. And to get out and do that with friends and family adds another layer of benefit from this event. – Angela Luskin no third
Luskin adds organizers will use the alternative route around the hospital this year due to safety concerns on the snowmobile trail.
The Sisu Shuffle invites the entire community to run or walk, but most importantly, start moving. And start spring on the right foot. Those interested in joining the fun can register for the Sisu Shuffle online. The event will start at 9 am on Saturday with people meeting at Uphs portage at 8:30. Find registration information here.
