The pups will have to march another day.
Regrettably Copper Shores Community Health Foundation announced on Wednesday it will postpone its Fifth Annual Puppy Parade. The foundation cited inclement weather forecasts and poor conditions at the Quincy Green from recent snow melt.
While the foundation regrets cancelling today’s event, Copper Shores hopes to reschedule the event for some time later in the year. In years past the event has enjoyed the company of many Michigan tech students, despite the events date coinciding near finals week and late semester study sessions. Communications and Donor Relations Director Michael Babcock says perhaps fall will work out as a possible season for the puppy parade.
In the fall semester rape and sexual assault incidents reach a peak on college campuses across the nation. The Puppy Parade’s attraction to the college student community and ability to bring many resources, copper country residents, and sexual assault survivors together may further raise awareness for a large issue at a good time of the academic year.
