Everyone deserves to join a group of friends and family on Easter. Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly will invite the community’s seniors to join volunteers at one of several sit-down dinner sites on Sunday for a delicious Easter Dinner. The annual event fills church halls with seniors, volunteers, and little brothers’ staff for an afternoon of joy, entertainment, and delicious food. And delivers meals to seniors throughout the region.
When you’re a meal delivery driver, when you sign up for that, we try to have it so you only deliver to around three households if we get enough drivers because we would like the elderly to be able to invite you in if they’re receptive to company, and so they’re not alone on holiday. That’s what Little Brothers is all about, is reaching out to our local elders to make sure they have that Easter celebration. – Pamela Lowney, Program Manager, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly
Easter Sunday dinners with Little Brothers typically include a full plate, with ham, veggies, and a dessert. Seniors have the option to have a meal delivered by a volunteer on Sunday or join the fun at one of the seven sites.
We look for entertainment. We’re still looking for some entertainers to come to the site to make it festive. We are going to be serving a traditional ham dinner. And if you’re going to be along for the holidays, if you have time in your schedule to come and volunteer with us, let us know. You can register online or call us and come sit down and enjoy the holiday with us. – Pamela Lowney, Program Manager, Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly
The organization does expect this weekend’s sit-down sites will fill up with plenty of friends and asks seniors interested in attending dinner to register with LBFE. Anyone interested in attending Easter dinner with Little Brother friends of the elderly will need to call 906 482 6944 to register for Sunday. Volunteers can register online. Little Brothers does have a need for delivery drivers this Sunday. Anyone interested in donating individually wrapped candies will need stop by the LBFE Hancock office before Thursday.
