The victory kept Detroit’s faint playoff hopes alive. With three regular-season games remaining, they trail the Canadiens by six standings points in the race for the final Eastern Conference wild card playoff berth, and are tied with the Blue Jackets and Islanders.
The Wings host the Stars Monday. A loss would eliminate them from the playoffs.

The Pistons and Bucks wrap up their regular seasons tomorrow afternoon in Milwaukee.
