
One more day in the school week, means Gogebic community college students have less day until graduation. On Monday the community college announced Lori Scott will lead the 2025 commencement ceremony as this year’s graduate speaker. Scott grew up in Ontonagon, graduating from the local high school in 2016. After receiving her Associate of Arts in Business Administration in 2018, she further pursued education at the University of Wisconsin River Falls for a bachelors in agricultural business. In 2023 she earned her master’s degree from Michigan State University. Scott returned to the Upper Peninsula in 21 as the Gogebic Ontonagon ISD’s CTE Food Systems and Natural Resources Instructor and FFA advisor. While attending Gogebic Community College Scott was a student athlete, earning the title of Lady Samsons as the school highest scoring women’s basketball player with over 1,400 points. While on the team she lead the Samsons to qualify for the NJCAA national championship tournament, and was named a Regional Player of the Year in her second year. Scott will take the stage before graduates receive their degrees on May 9th.
