Visit Keweenaw joins the ranks of a global tourism collective. On Tuesday Visit Keweenaw announced it will join the Destination Think’s Global Collective. While each destination is a part of the collective and offers unique opportunities to visitors, each share a common goal of protecting what makes communities special and welcoming. The coalition includes groups from Copenhagen, Denmark, Bend, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington.
Visit Keweeaw Executive Director Brad Barnett says through the Destination Develop Fund the bureau has invested in trails, amenities, and infrastructure supporting local and visitor recreation. Joining Destination Think’s Global Collective will help Visit Keweenaw continue building out experiences during slower visitor periods while maintaining sustainable recreation goals.
Visit Keweenaw recognizes the positive and negative impacts tourism can bring to communities, and commits to depending on thoughtful, sustainable collaboration with community groups to ensure the region remains wild, resilient, and welcoming for many more generations. Destination Think was created in 2009 after its founders recognized the type of tool social media would become in the tourism industry.
