The Upper Peninsula Poet Laureate Foundation will plan to add a new member after applications open next week. The Upper Peninsula Poet Laureate promotes poetry and spoken word art appreciation with residents throughout the region with workshops, virtual events and digital platforms. The UP poet Laureate will hold the role for a two-year term.
A review panel made up of members of the Upper Peninsula Poet Laureate Foundation will evaluate candidates and their portfolios, which will be made up of sample works, a resume, and references. The UP Poet Laureate Foundation has been established by professional librarians, poets, and academics working across the region’s communities.
Applications for the two-year term will open next Monday. The application portal will close May 14th.
