Casey Mize turned in six strong innings, as the Tigers dispatched the Yankees 6-2 yesterday. Pitching in the snow, Mize earned his first win at Comerica Park since his career was derailed by a string of injuries nearly four years ago. He gave up a run on four hits, and struck out six. Andy Ibáñez’ three-run homer in the third inning powered the Detroit win. Justyn-Henry Malloy added a two-run single.

The Brewers had yesterday off, and open a series at Colorado tonight. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Kyle Freeland.
Milwaukee made a couple of trades yesterday. They sent prospect outfielder Yophery Rodriguez and a draft pick to Boston in exchange for young starting pitcher Quinn Priester. Priester was a highly regarded prospect, but has had trouble breaking into the majors with the Pirates and Red Sox. He’ll bolster a starting rotation in which four of the five members are on the injured list. To make room for Priester, Milwaukee designated left-handed reliever Grant Wolfram for assignment, and then traded him to the Orioles in exchange for former Tigers outfielder Daz Cameron.

The Gators sank several late free throws to secure the lead, then denied the Cougars a final shot in the closing seconds. Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr. was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
