The Red Wings were outshot 18-14, but still managed to rout the Utah Hockey Club 5-1 last evening. Playing on ice that Detroit coach Todd McLellan described as “slushy and snowy,” Alex DeBrincat had a goal and an assist. Elmer Soderblom, Marco Kasper, Austin Watson and Tyler Motte also scored for Detroit. Recently reacquired goaltender Petr Mrazek left the game after just 98 seconds with an undisclosed injury. Alex Lyon relieved him.
The Wings will visit the Avalanche tonight. Coverage will begin at 8:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
McLellan said Mrazek will not be available for tonight’s game, but was not scheduled to start, anyway. He’ll be evaluated tomorrow, after the team returns to Detroit.

The Pistons welcome the Spurs tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
Devon Booker’s long two-pointer with three seconds remaining dealt the Bucks a 108-106 loss to the Suns last night. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 and added 10 rebounds for Milwaukee. Brook Lopez added 23 points and 10 rebounds, but missed an off-balance shot at the buzzer that would have forced overtime.

MLB
Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson hit back-to-back home runs, but the Tigers fell to the Giants 6-4 in an exhibition match last night.
The Tigers will play one final exhibition game against the Giants in San Francisco tonight, before opening the regular season Thursday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Jackon Jobe will start against Jordan Hicks.
The Tigers are down yet another outfielder. Wenceel Pérez will miss at least a month with lower back inflammation. With Matt Vierling and Parker Meadows already on the sideline, Pérez was expected to be Detroit’s opening-day starter in center field. Meadows will be out until at least late May. Vierling has been cleared to resume baseball activities, but will need time to play himself into shape. Manuel Margot, who was signed to provide some extra outfield depth, can play center.
The Brewers concluded their Cactus League campaign with a 4-2 victory over the Rockies yesterday. Nestor Cortes tossed five shutout innings, and Sal Frelick had two hits.
The Crew opens the regular season Thursday against the Yankees.
