110th district Representative Greg Markkanen says community colleges are the backbone of higher education following testimony at a House appropriations subcommittee hearing.
Representatives of the Michigan Community College Association, Gogebic Community College, Northwestern Michigan College, and Lake Michigan College spoke at a House appropriations subcommittee on higher education and community colleges. Representative Markkanen says his goal during the subcommittee hearing includes guaranteeing community colleges receive fair consideration for state funding.
“Community colleges are the backbone of higher education in Michigan says Markkanen, they provide an affordable, local option for high school students and recent graduates to further their education without the commitment or price tag of a larger college or university.”
