Representative Jack Bergman joins an Illinois representative to introduce legislation protecting the United States postal service from downsizing facilities in underserved regions. Recently Representative Bergman joined Illinois democrat Nikki Budzinski to introduce bipartisan legislation that will prevent the postal service from downsizing facilities, and provide more oversight for modification. The Protect Postal Performance Act has also gained support from representatives in Wyoming, Maine, and New Hampshire. Representative Bergman says residents living in Michigan’s first district rely on the US Postal Service for vital information and items such as bills, and medication. Representative Budzinski says for residents in south and central Illinois downsizing USPS facilities will only create longer delays in mail delivery. The legislation has been referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Find more information about the Protect Postal Performance Act here.
