A town hall will invite the Copper Country’s communities to express concerns and issues with recent funding freezes and workforce cuts made by Special Advisor to the President, Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency. Similar to another recently held event in Escanaba, residents of Houghton County, a part of Keweenaw Indivisible sponsored, a town hall for Representative Jack Bergman.
Organizer Bill Fink says the group extended an invitation to Representative jack Bergman leading up to the event tonight. Keweenaw Report also reached out to the congressman’s Washington D.C. office to confirm whether or not he planned to attend, but did not receive further communication after making contact with a spokesperson for Bergman’s office. House representatives were dismissed for a district work period last week and will return to session on March 24th.
Participants will have three minutes to share issues with recent federal cuts. Fink adds a video copy of the event will be sent to Representative Bergman’s office.
The town hall will begin at 7 pm tonight at the Keweenaw UU Fellowship at 604 Bridge Street in Houghton.
