Blood drives are an important step in connecting the community with area hospitals. Throughout the year blood supplies donated at Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center drives support patient surgeries and emergency room visits at 14 regional hospitals. This week several blood drives are supporting the regional blood center occurring in the western Upper Peninsula.
Tomorrow in Painesdale, a drive will be set up at Jeffers High School. Then on Wednesday and Friday, the Regional Blood Center will move to L’Anse. Wednesday’s blood drive is hosted by the Keweenaw Bay Ojibwe Community College. On Friday the L’Anse United Methodist Church will host the regional blood center. Thursday’s Blood Drive will travel to Ontonagon and is hosted by the Eagles Club on Quartz Street.
Blood Drives are important, and offer an easy opportunity for individuals that regularly donate blood to help the community. Regional Blood Center professionals also maintain a comfortable environment to ease donors who may not donate as often. Walk-in appointments are available at donation sites. Those interested in scheduling an appointment should contact the Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center at 906 449 1450.
