Julie was born on June 24, 1961 in Farmington, Michigan. Julie was the daughter of her late parents Arthur and Arlene (Fedelem) Schneider. Julie was raised in Port Huron, Michigan. In 1979, Julie graduated from Port Huron High School, and then went on to attend Soumi College in Hancock.
Julie met her beloved husband James “Cougar” Kunishige and they became parents to four children, who they raised in Atlantic Mine, Michigan. On August 19, 1998, James preceded her in death.
Julie worked at the Stanton House in South Range until her retirement. Julie then worked at Krist Oil Company in Chassell. Julie enjoyed working with people in both occupations.
Julie enjoyed spending her free time visiting with her friends and family, reading books, watching movies, and taking care of her two cats.
Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, her parents and her nephew Jason Schneider. Surving Julie are; her four children: James “Jimmy” Kunishige, “Bernie” Jeremy (Kayla) Kunishige, Jasmine Tapani, and Jade (Trent) Pakkala; Her beloved grandchildren: Jaycee, Ashton, Paige, Peyton, Khloe, Kiana, Emma, Hank, James, Gaige and Miley; Her brothers: John (Michelle) Schneider, James (Shirley) Schneider, and Jeffrey (Cynthia) Schneider; Her sister-in-law: Lori (David) Sleeman; As well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
On Monday, March 17, 2025, a time of remembrance will be held for Julie from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Service – Mt. View Chapel of South Range. A spring burial will be held in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
