UPPCO encourages customers to prepare for the winter storm warning set for the Copper Country.
The National Weather Service has posted a winter weather warning for the Western and Central regions of the Upper Peninsula starting this evening through March 5th. Winter storms typically include high wind speeds and accumulated heavy wet snow.
UPPCO Manager of Communications and External Affairs Dan Freeborn says power outages may occur, and UPPCO crews are preparing to respond to outages caused by weather. The energy provider adds people should never approach or touch down power lines, or tree(s) branches in contact with live wires. It is also important to properly maintain and safely use power generators.
To report power outages to UPPCO customers should call 906 449 2011 or through the online reporting tool found at uppco.com.
