Thomas Gary Tallon, affectionately known as Gary, passed away peacefully at his home in Copper Harbor, Michigan, on March 1, 2025. Born on November 29, 1936, in Zilwaukee, Michigan, to Thomas and Florence (Grant) Tallon, who preceded him in death.
Gary was a proud alumnus of Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI, where he excelled as a member of the ski team and earned an invitation to the U.S. Olympic Trials. He met the love of his life, Carol Paolini and they were married in August 1979 in Lapeer, Michigan.
Gary dedicated over 30 years of his career to Chrysler as an engineer, where his innovative spirit led to several patented inventions. His contributions to the field were significant and lasting.
In his younger years, Gary was an avid skier, drag car racer, and horse farm owner. After relocating to the Upper Peninsula, he found joy in the great outdoors, particularly in fishing and hunting with his beloved dogs, Bear and Kota.
Gary is survived by his wife, Carol, and children Kevin Tallon (Peggy), Jennifer Fortier (Curt), Wendy Brewer (Lee), Cathleen Grzesiek (Rob), Holly Hilbrands (Mark), and Erin Tallon-Carr. He was a proud grandfather to Justin, Evan, Chandler, Jarred, Jack, Quintin, and Caroline and
great grandfather to Lorelei and Wyllow.
A memorial for Gary Tallon will be held at The Mariner North in Copper Harbor, MI on March 18th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in his honor.
