Harry Sam Suojanen Sr. was released from his dementia hell on Friday, February 28, 2025.
He was born on August 14, 1937, in Elo, MI, to Sam and Alma (Holappa) Suojanen.
On April 21, 1956, he wed Marcella Agnes Grandchamp. Together they had raised four children: Betty, Barbara, Harry “Butch” Jr., and William Suojanen.
Mr. Suojanen had worked as a union carpenter, retiring from Michigan regional Counsel of Carpenter Local #687, Warren, MI, in 1994. He also retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 17 of Detroit, MI.
After retirement, Harry returned to Elo, the place of his birth, where he chose to spend the remainder of his life. Preceding him in death were his wife: Marcella; his brother, Roy: his sisters Virginia, Irene, Verna, Mrytle; grandson Andrew and great-grandsons; Eddie & Lincoln. surviving are his children: Betty (Scott) Thompson, Barbara (John) Litzner, Harry “Butch” Suojanen Jr. and William (Kimberly) Suojanen; his grandchildren: Gene, Mindy, Greg, Nicole, Crystal, Heather, Logan, and Luke. His great grandchildren: Gene, Daniel, Natalie, Mariah, Matthew, Aili-Drew, Katelyn, Alex, Ella, Samantha and Zahavah. His sister: Kathryn Harris.
Harry spent his life being a hard-working, devoted father. He always taught his family to be honest, have an excellent work ethic and the true meaning of being a finlander. Sisu on… Suojanens As requested, no service will take place and burial will be in the Elo Cemetery later this year.
