Boys high school basketball tournament district finals tonight…
- Division Four, District 98 – Dollar Bay-Tamarack City plays at Baraga at 6.
- Division Four District 100 – Forest Park hosts Norway.

- Houghton fell to Ishpeming 61-49. Eva Gerard scored 22 for the Huskies.
- Hancock shut down Jeffers 38-23.
- Ontonagon turned back Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 48-28.
- Chassell outscored Watersmeet 66-31.
- L’Anse defeated Ironwood 70-55.
The girls regular season concludes tonight…
- Hancock plays at Calumet to make up a snowout from January 27th.
The Jeffers hockey team faces Sault Ste. Marie in a Division Three tournament quarterfinal tomorrow. The puck drops at 1 at Lakeview Arena in Marquette. The Jets carry a record of 23-4-0 into the contest. The Blue Devils are 12-13-1 on the season.
Nordic Skiing
The Copper Country will host the Michigan Nordic Skiing State Championships today and tomorrow on the Tech Trails. More than 100 middle school and high school skiers from nine teams will be competing, including the Copper Country Ski Tigers. College Basketball
The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team opened a big early lead, and outscored Purdue Northwest 78-62 last night. Alyssa Wypych had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Isabella Lenz added 18 points.
The 21st-ranked Tech men’s team blew past the Pride 78-56. Marcus Tomashek scored 20, and Ty Fernholz added 19.
Both Tech teams conclude their regular seasons at Parkside tomorrow.
The Northern Michigan women’s team shaded Parkside 69-68 last night, and clinched the number-two seed in the upcoming GLIAC tournament. Abi Fraaza scored 20 points.
The NMU men’s team downed the Rangers 83-70. Dylan Kuehl and Jackson Dudek each netted 17 points.
Both NMU squads wrap up their regular campaigns tomorrow at Purdue Northwest.
College Soccer
Northern Michigan University has a new head women’s soccer coach. Erin Egolf comes to Marquette after spending a year as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Division I Illinois State.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team ends its regular season with games at Saint Thomas tonight and tomorrow night.
The NMU hockey squad wraps up its season with games at Ferris State tonight and tomorrow.
Great Lakes Hockey League
The Calumet Wolverines host the De Pere Deacons tomorrow night at 9:30 at the Colosseum.
The Portage Lake Pioneers entertain the Deacons Sunday at 1:00 at Dee Stadium.
NBA
The Pistons welcome the Nuggets tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks sank the Nuggets 121-112 last night. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 28 points and 19 rebounds.
The Bucks visit the Mavericks tomorrow night.
NHL
The Red Wings dropped a 5-2 decision to the Blue Jackets last night. Alex DeBrincat and J.T. Compher scored. Cam Talbot made 25 saves.
The Wings face the Blue Jackets again tomorrow, in an NHL Stadium Series outdoor game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. Coverage will begin at 5:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
MLB
Half of the Tigers played to a 7-7 tie with the Rays yesterday. Spencer Torkelson homered. The other half lost 6-5 to the Red Sox. Jack Flaherty gave up a run over two innings. Kenta Maeda relieved him, allowed three runs over three innings, and took the loss. Jake Rogers homered.
The Tigers face half of the Blue Jays today. Reese Olson will start against Chris Bassitt.
Detroit’s Matt Vierling has been sidelined with a shoulder injury. He’ll be evaluated today.
The Brewers bombed the Royals 12-5 yesterday.
The Brewers face the Giants this afternoon. Tobias Myers will pitch for the Crew.
Dogsled Racing
The 15th running of the CopperDog 150 begins tonight. This year’s event features four races. The three-stage 150, two-stage 80 and one-stage 30 begin tonight at 7 in downtown Calumet. The single-stage CopperDog 15 starts tomorrow at 3 in Copper Harbor. The weekend also includes the CopperPull weight hauling competition, and the CopperDash sprint race for kids.
