
The MTEC SmartZone helps businesses drive innovation. Last year SmartZone launched its Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Program to assist new businesses grow from an idea into a fully operational organization working on water testing technology, to innovative oxygen therapy solutions for supplemental oxygen users. In 2024 the AMMP at the MTEC SmartZone started with five cohorts, AIRS O2 Innovate, BioMang, Integrated Molecular Innovations, Resugent Innovations, and Flow Shield Nano. The opportunities that grow out of the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Program hope to create a hub of innovation and start-up businesses in the Keweenaw Peninsula and Upper Midwest region. Recently the AMMP Accelerator program extended its first-round deadline for the 2025 cohort to this Friday.
