Christine Louise Seppala, age 75, a resident of Hancock, Michigan passed away on Sunday February 16, 2025.
Christine was born on September 18, 1949 to parents Uno and Ruth (Bylkas) Hillstrom. She was a graduate of Calumet High School and married Robert Seppala in 1968.
Chris loved to play the piano, compose music, write poetry and children’s books. She enjoyed picking rocks and driftwood on the shores of Lake Superior and spent summers on the beaches with her children.
Chris was a piano teacher for over fifty years. She absolutely loved all her students and enjoyed seeing them progress under her teaching. She also was a CNA for over 30 years and provided tender, loving care for all of her clients.
Christine is preceded in death by her parents Uno and Ruth, a brother and sister -in- law, Bill and Shirley Hillstrom, Dan Guara her dear friend and fiance, her son- in- law Scott Karrio, brothers-in-law Carl Maki and Ralph Sheffer sisters-in- law Rose Knuuttila Hillstrom, Karen Jarl Hillstrom and Denise Auel Hillstrom and nephews Keith Ylitalo and John Hillstrom.
Christine is survived by her children Mark (Evonnie) Seppala and Melanie Karrio. grandchildren Logan (Olivia) Karrio and Slevin Seppala.
Her brothers David (Charlene), Charlie, Terry (Mary) and sisters Mary Maki, Sarah Sheffer, Brita (Howard) Ylitalo, and many nieces and nephews who grieve her loss.
A Funeral Service for Christine will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday February 22, 2025 at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home located in Calumet, Michigan. Doors will open at 10:30 am. There will be a coffee hour to follow the funeral service at the Siskiwit Reception Hall.
