Gerald “Gerry” Lokojarvi, age 88, of Hancock passed away peacefully at UP Health Systems
Marquette after a lengthy illness.
Gerry was born on August 14, 1936 to Einard and Ida (Kuusisto) Lokojarvi. He attended
Calumet schools. On May 17, 1958 he married Charlene Klobuchar. Together they had 4
children and made a home for themselves in Ripley after some time in Detroit. Gerry worked
various jobs as an electrician throughout the years. He retired from Northern Hardwoods.
Gerry played several instruments in many, well-known local bands over 40 years, sharing his
love of country and bluegrass music. He absolutely loved all dogs. He enjoyed sitting, eating,
and laughing with family, friends, watching the sunsets, and listening to music at their camp by
Agate Beach. Gerry had a very full and happy life with a contagious smile. He was loved by
everyone that knew him.
Preceding in death are his parents and siblings (Gladys, Glenn, Gloria, Gene, and Greta).
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Charlene (his “Tootsie”), his children, Donna
(Keith) Machiela of Lake Linden, Brenda Blanchette of Frances Creek, WI, Brian (Diane) of
Dollar Bay, and Kevin of Hancock, his grandchildren, Amy (Dave Moyle) Machiela, Kristin
Machiela (JP Marson), Janelle (Jason) Lund, Jared (Sarah) Machiela, Jeremy (Jessica) Mills,
and Ashley (Jason Wilks) Lokojarvi, and 14 great grandchildren: Ethan, Awbrey, Jared, Caleb,
Wesley, Owen, Vincent, Delilah, Violet, Flora, Kyara, Cooper, Jaxson, and Harrison. He is also
survived by various in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests monetary donations that can be put toward their
wishes.
