Keeping one foot in front of the other can become difficult on a healing journey without support. Next week Copper Shores Victim Support will start a new support group, open to all those seeking growth and healing after experiencing trauma as a primary victim or even through secondhand experiences. The Wellness Journey Support Group will meet over 22 weeks, alternating between sessions using a self-assessment workbook and Wellness Nights.
In the evenings the group will have a Wellness Night, and community members are welcome to join and support victims along their journey. Copper Shores victim Advocate Rachel Lamppa says that support groups offer a low commitment level to victims, and provide supplemental and intentional support in the place of licensed care. Adding that the group will help victims by providing tools, resources, and advocacy for their healing journey.
The self-assessment workbook, The Wellness Compass: Workbook for Adults was created by Holly Hughes Stoner, LMFT, and D. Scott Stoner, LMFT, to provide techniques and tools for self-reflection and goal setting on a wellness journey. The self-lead workbook allows support group participants the chance to follow a step-by-step guide for adults who want to learn to grow while seeking support and guidance.
The Wellness Journey Support Group with Copper Shores Victim Support will begin next Monday at 6 pm. All program materials will be provided by the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation. Those interested in registering for the program can find more information online. Find details here.
