Baraga County’s commission has set the board’s representation on community-focused committees. The Baraga County Commission approved Commission Chair Brad Dakota’s 14 board appointments placing county representation on leadership teams for BHK, WUPHD, the recreation commission, and more.
Dakota will keep his positions on the Baraga County equalization, and finance committees, as well as retain his seat with the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department.
Bill Menge will fill five seats. Sitting in with Dakota on the Finance committee, and filling out representation with WUPPDR, the health department, act as the Baraga County Memorial Hospital liaison, and sit on the UPCAP board.
Commissioner Craig Kent will also keep busy with UPWARD, the UP State Fair Board, the Baraga County Recreation Committee, and the Personnel Committee.
New commissioner James Niemala will join Menge at the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region meetings. He will also take on roles with the Personnel Committee with Kent, and the UP RC & D council.
Commission Lee DeLeon will take on responsibility with the Baraga-Houghton-Keweenaw board, Western UP Substance Abuse and Family Planning board, and the equalization committee.
The commission also appointed Rick Johnson to a partial term on the Jury Commission. He will serve until April 30th, 2025.
