An automated external defibrillator can save a life in the case of cardiac arrest. The devices are often found in public spaces or at private businesses. Having an AED device available anywhere is important for communities because a heart attack can also happen anywhere.
In the last couple of years, the Superior Health Foundation has taken steps to ensure the Upper Peninsula has access to AED devices and has awarded funds to help groups and businesses purchase an AED for their location. Recently SHF announced it plans to distribute 30 AEDs in tax-exempt organizations in 2025 AED devices are available first come first serve. Any organization interested in requesting an AED from the Superior Health Foundation will need to provide the group’s EIN, Proof of tax exemption, and an idea of how many people in the community the organization serves.
