Sherry Lynn (Lantto) Lassila, age 50, of Calumet passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2025. She was born in Hancock on June 15, 1974 to Lloyd and Barbara (Baccus) Lantto at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hancock. Sherry was raised in Bootjack, MI and attended Lake Linden Schools.
She married Brian Lassila on September 9, 1995 in Lake Linden. Sherry worked for home nursing, Portage View and various nursing homes as a CNA until she received her LPN degree from Gogebic Community College.
Sherry is survived by her parents Lloyd (Jeanne) Lantto of Atlantic Mine, Barbara (Vic) Tienhaara of Houghton, husband Brian Lassila of Traprock, children Cole (Stephanee Monette) Lassila of Traprock, Morgan (Dustin Hokenson) Lassila of Traprock, grandchildren Stanley and Anastasia Hokenson of Traprock, sisters Laurie (Lucas) Barrette of Dollar Bay, and Denise (David) Dairo of Bootjack. Also, her mother-in-law Kathy Wicker and brother-in-law Jon Lassila all of Traprock, and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and many friends.
Sherry loved the outdoors, she enjoyed hunting on the family property, fishing on the big lake, boating, paddle boarding down the Traverse river, she loved snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. She enjoyed spending time doing all the things she loved with her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She enjoyed watching her son Cole’s watercross races.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Sherry on June 14, 2025.
