After losing their offensive and defensive coordinators to head coaching jobs, the Lions made a strong move yesterday to keep one of their remaining coaches on staff. Hank Fraley has been promoted from offensive line coach to run-game coordinator. He had been a candidate for the offensive coordinator position with the Seahawks, but will remain in the Motor City.
Another key executive will also remain with the Lions. Special assistant Chris Spielman was a candidate to become general manager of the Jets, but New York is offering the job to Broncos assistant GM Darren Mougey.
One other assistant has moved on, though. Wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El will join former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson’s staff with the Chicago Bears. Along with coaching wide receivers, he will also be the assistant head coach.
