Emma Joan Beauchamp of Calumet, Michigan passed away on January 16, 2025, at Canal View in Hancock, Michigan. Emma was born on July 2, 1921 in Laurium, Michigan to Charles Deiro and Julia Harry.
Emma graduated from Calumet High School in 1940. She was married to Frank Jerman on August 2, 1952 and they had 17 years together before his passing in November 1969. In September 1986, Emma married Willard Beauchamp at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet.Not long after graduating high school Emma spent the World War II years in Detroit where she was a Piston Packing Mama at the Packard Motor Company.
She held many different jobs over the years including working with her husband Frank at Mullen’s Dry Cleaners in Calumet. She also spent several years working at Vertins in Houghton. She was also an excellent seamstress. She also worked at Bealls Department Store during her winter stays in Florida.
Emma starting spending her winters in Florida in her early sixties and continued into her late eighties when health necessitated her remaining in Calumet full-time.
Emma was always a very active person and enjoyed bowling, dancing a polka, having a Coors Light or two, and red wine. She also enjoyed going on cruises with Willard and occasional trips to the Baraga Casino, and many annual trips when both her children lived in Colorado. Emma had a love for sweets, especially a good hot fudge sundae.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Julia, her husband Willard, her siblings Virginia, Shirley, and Carl.
Emma is survived by her son Darrell (Beth) Jerman of Grand Junction, Colorado and her daughter Julie (Jeff) Melka of Calumet, Michigan, as well as several nieces and nephews.
