Winter might have a hold over the Upper Peninsula. But the sun will warm up the ground enough to plant trees and plants in a couple of months. Each spring the Ontonagon Conservation District holds an annual tree and plant sale.
This year the district plans to expand the variety of trees and plants available to the community. New to the Ontonagon Conservation District sale will include aronia, maple, basswood, birch, mountain ash, black willow, and hazelnut trees. The district will also offer fruiting plants such as blueberry, raspberry, elderberry, and highbush cranberry plants. Other gardening options include traditional flowers like roses, peonies, lilacs, and garden vegetables like potatoes, rhubarb, and asparagus.
The conservation district will continue to accept orders for the sale until the end of March, and orders can be picked up in April. Find more information about the Ontonagon Conservation District annual spring plant sale online. The Tree and plant sale supports the conservation district’s projects and programs offered to the community during the year.
Orders must be placed by March 27th. Pick-up is scheduled for April 26th in Ewen. For a complete description of items for sale, to request or download the order form go to www.ontonagonconservationdistrict.com or via email ontonagon@macd.org or call 906-231-0382.
