Riders need to respect private property for the sustainability of the Upper Peninsula’s snowmobile and ORV trail system.
The North Country Snowmobile Club, which provides trail grooming in Ontonagon County, cautioned snowmobile riders to refrain from traveling on private roads or property. The club posted an announcement on its Facebook page asking riders to please stop riding on private property west of Norwich Road where the trail is closed.
Do not attempt to use side roads, that mix intermittently with private roads. Riders can receive a citation if found trespassing on private properties.
The club suggests following Norwich Road eight and a half miles south and using Trail 137 to travel in and out of town.
Trails and roads open, in collaboration with the Ontonagon County Road Commission, are a privilege the club wishes to keep for many more years. Find more information about snowmobile safety and maps of the system online.
