Ronald Leroy Jutila, 89, of Lake Linden, passed away at UP Heath System-Portage on January 10, 2025.
Ronald was born on September 2, 1935, in Jacobsville, a son of Warner and Florence (Karvakko) Jutila. He attended school in Jacobsville and Lake Linden.
He served in the US Army as a Sergeant. Later, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Houghton County Road Commission for 37 years.
Ronald was an avid outdoorsman, working the family farm, and he loved all kinds of outdoor activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and even making maple syrup. Ronald continued maintaining a small vegetable garden on the farm throughout his life.
He was married to Donna Baril on October 14, 1961, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-Werner “Eppi,” a sister-Agnes “Aggie” Montle, and daughter-in-law-Sharon.
He is survived by: his wife-Donna of Lake Linden; 3 children-Michael of Howell, MI, Vicki (Brian) Putala of Milford, MI, and Brian (Denae) of Richmond, MI; 9 grandchildren-Amanda, Deandra, Kevin, Joseph, Michael, Breanna, Erie, Ethan, and Alexander; a brother- Robert (Donna) Jutila; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until Noon on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden. The funeral service will follow the visitation at noon at the funeral home. The spring burial will in the Jacobsville Cemetery with Military Rites.
