Yelich Cycles (Again) as Brewers Win – Tuesday Sports Wrap

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s soccer team lost to Franklin College in Indiana 1-0 last night. The winning goal came in the 85th minute.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers lost to the Minnesota Twins 6-1 last night. The Tigers collected just five hits. Jordan Zimmermann gave up a run in the first, and was chased from the game as the Twins scored four times in the fourth.

The Tigers host the Twins again tonight. Daniel Norris will start against Jake Odorizzi. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Tigers’ pitcher Michael Fulmer has meniscus damage in his right knee. Fulmer ended his start on Saturday because of soreness. An MRI yesterday revealed the injury. Additional assessments will be done before deciding on treatment.

Christian Yelich hit for the cycle for the second time this season, as the Milwaukee Brewers pounded the Cincinnati Reds 8-0 last evening. Yelich is only the fifth player in Major League history to hit for the cycle twice in the same season, and is the first to do it against the same team both times. Domingo Santana also homered for Milwaukee. Wade Miley, Josh Hader and Brandon Woodruff combined to pitch the shutout.

The Cubs also won, so Milwaukee continues to trail Chicago by two-and-a-half games in the National League Central Division. The Brewers lead the Saint Louis Cardinals by three games in the race for the top wild-card playoff slot. They continue that home set against the Reds tonight. Chase Anderson will pitch against Michael Lorenzen.

NFL
In last night’s NFL game, the Chicago Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks 24-17. If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have selected at least 12 games correctly to qualify to be our weekly winner.
