The Tigers fell to the Yankees 3-0 last evening. Opener Beau Brieske gave up a run in the first inning, and took the loss. Brant Hurter took over in the fourth, and allowed two runs on four hits over the duration.
The Tigers host the Yankees this afternoon. Keider Montero will start against Carlos Rodón. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
In their major league debuts, Jace Jung drew two walks, and Trey Sweeney had a single.
To make room for Jung on the roster, infielder Gio Urshela was designated for assignment. To open a spot for Sweeney, Akil Baddoo was sent back to Toledo.
The Brewers built an early lead, then held off the Guardians 5-3 last night. Willy Adames launched a three-run homer in the first inning. Aaron Civale gave up four hits over six shutout innings. Bryce WIlson served up a pair of home runs in the eighth.
The Brewers host the Guardians again tonight. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Tanner Bibee.
Milwaukee outfielder Christian Yelich underwent season-ending back surgery yesterday. Doctors say the procedure was successful, and he should be ready by next spring.
