MLB – Tigers Hammered
Carlos Beltran homered twice, as the New York Yankees slammed the Detroit Tigers 14-3 last night. The Bronx Bombers blasted five home runs. The final one came off Tigers’ infielder Josh Wilson, who pitched the final inning. Detroit starter Alfredo Simon didn’t make it through the third inning. He was charged with seven runs on eight hits, and took the loss.
The Tigers wrap up that series against the Yankees in New York this afternoon. Anibal Sanchez will pitch against Masahiro Tanaka. Hear the first pitch at 1:05 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
The Colorado Rockies shut down the Milwaukee Brewers 6-1 yesterday. Kyle Lohse gave up three runs on just four hits over six innings, and took the loss.
The Brewers continue that series at Colorado this afternoon. Matt Garza will start against Chris Rusin.
U.P. All Star Classic
The North and South teams split the 30th annual U.P. All–Star Classic Saturday. The South won the boys’ contest 108-88. The North won the girls’ game 68-62.
