Wolverine Earns Two Twilight Wins – Friday Sports Wrap

Tigers, Brewers Resume Play Tonight
Detroit Tigers Circle LogoThe Tigers return to action tonight at home against Cleveland. Anibal Sanchez will start against Trevor Bauer. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on WM 1400, WCCY. The Tigers have a six-and-a-half-game lead over the Royals in the American League Central Division.

Pitching prospect Drew VerHagen will be brought up from Toledo to start one of Detroit’s two games against the Indians tomorrow. Teams are allowed to add an extra pitcher for doubleheaders, so no one will need to be sent down to make room. It will be VerHagen’s major-league debut.

The Brewers resume play tonight at Washington. Kyle Lohse will start against Stephen Strasburg. Milwaukee leads the National League Central by one game over Saint Louis.

Shortstop Jean Segura will rejoin the team for tonight’s game. Segura left the club late last week, after learning of the death of his nine-month-old son in the Dominican Republic. The boy’s funeral was Monday. Infielder Jeff Bianchi will be sent to the disabled list because of his sore elbow. The Brewers have also reclaimed infielder Irving Falu… whom they lost to the Padres earlier this season on waivers. Falu played 11 games for San Diego… and then was placed on waivers again.
