MLB – Tigers
Shane Greene’s return to the major leagues didn’t go well, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Minnesota Twins 7-1 yesterday. Greene gave up all seven runs – two in the first, four in the fourth, and one on a Trevor Plouffe home run off his final pitch in the fifth. The Tigers enter the All-Star break with a record of 44-44… in third place in the American League Central, nine games behind the Royals.

Adrian Gonzalez’ two-run homer off Will Smith in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday. Starter Kyle Lohse lasted just five innings, and gave up L-A’s first two runs. Smith took the loss. Ryan Braun homered for Milwaukee.

The Tigers and Brewers are both off until Friday, for the All-Star break. The All-Star game will be played tomorrow night in Cincinnati. The Tigers will send outfielder J.D. Martinez, shortstop Jose Iglesias, and pitcher David Price. First baseman Miguel Cabrera was voted into the starting lineup, but is on the disabled list.

The Brewers will be represented by reliever Francisco Rodriguez, and outfielder Ryan Braun – who was added yesterday to replace injured Cardinals’ outfielder Matt Holliday.
