MLB

Parker Meadows drove in two runs, as the Tigers outscored the Mariners 4-2 last night. Meadows’ fourth-inning single plated Wenceel Pérez with Detroit’s first run. His solo homer in the eighth capped off the effort. Keider Montero gave up a run on four hits over six strong innings. He struck out eight.

The Tigers continue that set at Seattle tonight. Tarik Skubal will start against George Kirby. Coverage will begin at 9:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Kerry Carpenter began a rehab assignment at Toledo last evening with a single in three at-bats as the designated hitter. He’s been out for more than two months because of a stress fracture in his back. Casey Mize is scheduled to begin a rehab stint with the Mud Hens tonight. He’s been out since the end of June with a hamstring issue, and isn’t eligible to return from the 60-day injured list until the end of the month.

The Brewers routed the Braves 10-0 last evening. Willy Adames hit two home runs. William Contreras had three hits, drove in four runs, and scored twice. Colin Rea scattered five hits over seven innings, and struck out nine.

The Brewers continue that set at Atlanta this evening. Freddy Peralta will start against Chris Sale.

College Soccer

The Michigan Tech Soccer team is adding two transfer players to this fall’s roster. Gabrielle Klein joins as a sophomore, having played last season at University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown in the Division II Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Ludesha Reynolds is a goaltender, and will come in as a junior. She played at Mississippi Valley State in the Division I Southwestern Athletic Conference.
