High School

In high school baseball today…

NBA

In the NBA Tournament, the Celtics eliminated the 76ers 122-88. Boston wins that Eastern Conference semifinal series 4-3, and will open the conference championship series Wednesday against the Heat. The Western Conference championship series between the Lakers and the Nuggets will begin Thursday.

NHL

In the NHL playoffs, the Golden Knights dispatched the Oilers 5-2. Vegas wins that Western Conference semifinal series 4-2. Their opponent in the Western Conference championship series will be determined tonight, as the Stars host the Kraken in game seven of their semifinal set tonight. The Panthers and Hurricanes will play for the Eastern Conference championship.

MLB

The Tigers salvaged one game from their weekend series against the Mariners with a 5-3 comeback victory yesterday. Starter Joey Wentz gave up six hits, and was chased from the game as Seattle scored three runs in the third inning. Five Detroit relievers gave up just four hits over the rest of the game. Akil Baddoo’s RBI double in the bottom of the sixth tied the contest. The winning runs scored with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded, Mariners pitcher Matt Brash hit batter Nick Maton with a pitch, then walked Andy Ibáñez.

The Tigers have today off, and host the Pirates tomorrow. Michael Lorenzen will start against Luis L. Ortiz. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers scored seven runs in the third inning, and held off the Royals 9-6 yesterday. The outburst rescued Colin Rea, who gave up four runs before leaving in the fourth. Christian Yelich, Brice Turang and Mike Brosseau homered.

The Brewers visit the Cardinals tonight. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Jack Flaherty.
