Wings Wiped, Howard Hurt – Thursday Sports Wrap

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings’ struggles continued with a 6-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs last night. Jimmy Howard gave up three goals in the first 10 minutes, then left the game with a mid-body injury. Jonathan Bernier allowed the other three goals, as the Leafs outshot the Wings 54-25.

After the game, coach Jeff Blashill said that Howard will be evaluated today, but will likely not be available when the Wings visit the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow. Coverage of that game begins at 3:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons suffered a 102-101 loss to the Charlotte Hornets last evening. Detroit had the ball for the final 12 seconds, but couldn’t get off a shot to win the game. Blake Griffin led the team with 26 points.

NFL

On the Thanksgiving NFL schedule today…
– The Detroit Lions host the Chicago Bears at 12:30.
– The Buffalo Bills visit the Dallas Cowboys at 4:30.
– The Atlanta Falcons welcome the New Orleans Saints at 8:20.

David Blough will start at quarterback for the Lions today. The undrafted rookie free agent from Purdue will make his NFL debut, as starter Matthew Stafford remains sidelined with broken bones in his back, and second-stringer Jeff Driskel nurses a sore hamstring. Driskel will be available as a back-up in today’s game.
